You can get married barefoot on the beach, in a ballroom at a luxury resort, on a sailboat, or in one of the island's colorful churches, to name a few choice scenarios. An increasing number of resorts and tour operators are equipped to handle weddings soup-to-nuts. You need to meet the following legal requirements to marry in the TCI: You will need to bring a passport, a copy of your birth certificate, proof of status from your place of residence (if single, a sworn affidavit), and a divorce decree if you're divorced. You will need to pay a $100 license fee and $20 for a copy of the marriage certificate. You must be on island for 48 hours to establish residency, and the marriage license takes 48 hours to process. Note: If you plan to marry in the one of the island churches, you may need proof of membership. The ceremony will be conducted by a local minister, Justice of the Peace or Registrar and we have been assured by the both the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the General Registrar's office in London that the marriage should be legal in accordance with British Law. Please note that there is no provision for any marriages which may tale place overseas to be registered in the persons country of origin, as all records will be placed in the Turks & Caicos Islands. It is recommended that the Marriage Certificate be photocopied and the original be placed for safe keeping in a safe Deposit box on your return. If you have a specific date in mind for your wedding it is advisable to make a special request in writing to the Registrar in person prior to your arrival. Please be aware that wedding can take place on any day. Please let the person know who is completing your forms where you would like the wedding to be held, the time and the date.
