Middle Caicos snorkeling - fun and relax for you and your family
Summer is the best time to snorkel and dive in the Turks and Caicos. During the summer, sea water temperatures stay close to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Warm weather brings more underwater sightings of manta rays and other aquatic life. In the winter, the waters are a little cooler, staying in the mid to high 70s, so you still may be able to get some great snorkeling and diving in during your vacation. Scuba divers and vacationers who enjoy spending time in the water will discover that the waters of the Middle Caicos are rich with marine life and other amazing underwater spectacles. There are two sets of Coral Gardens to the west of the house. One is only 100 yards down the beach and the other main reef is about 250-300 yards to the west. To the east at low tide, a long beach walk brings you to a nice sand bar leading out to Pelican Cay. If you snorkel around the island a nice reef runs along the back side, with quite a variety of tropical fish to be seen here. Close to Conch Bar on the shore road, Samuel's Landing (marked by a bowling pin) provides both good snorkeling and swimming. This is one of the easiest snorkeling spots on the island. Some call it Bowling Pin Beach because of the marker showing where to turn in from the road. It's also an easy walk west from the villas at Bambarra Beach. The reef is visible from the beach as a cluster of dark areas. Some travelers say it is like swimming in a zoo.
